Astrology: Full Moon in Aquarius

The Moon appears full to us when it takes position opposite the sun. That means once a month while the Sun moves through its designated sign, the Full Moon shines through the opposing sign. This is one way balance is maintained. During the solar month of Leo, the Full Moon pirouettes in Aquarius.

The Sun in Leo nudges us to indulge in summer's bliss, stroking our pride and lifting the reins from our crudest desires. This transit makes life blossom in technicolor, mirroring the season's ripening fruits. Conversely, the Full Moon criticizes our latest internal devices and when in Aquarius, it condemns the narcissistic, mainstream veneer and demands individualism, authenticity, and points out the needs and conditions of others. Aquarius wears a myriad of hats- scientist, innovator, artist, humanitarian, and social servant. Below are some of the ways you can channel the Aquarian moon into the coming days.

Aquarius is a curious, life-long student, who yearns to uncover the latest thing, and build upon existing knowledge. August marks the time of year when we return to school, but even if you're not yourself, or you're just preparing your kids to, don't neglect to pick yourself up a new book. And not the latest vampire novel. Aquarius balks at fictitious nonsense and insists on documentaries, memoirs, and biographies of actual people. She also enjoys photography, museum exhibits, academic journals and other factual literature. Aquarius hates a lazy mind. Flex yours and dare to explore something entirely unknown. If you've been suffocating under the monotony of everyday life, use this time to discover a new passion for yourself.

Like Leo, Aquarius loves a good story and still tends to happen upon drama from time to time. Unlike the emotionally driven lion though, the cup-bearer is shyly cerebral and weighs all things carefully, again and again. A great mediator who makes their way through every grocery store aisle, sampling all perspectives available, Aquarius strives to find fair solutions. This is an ideal time to have social gatherings or dinner parties, where the focus is less about downing shots and more about reconnecting and chatting with friends, old and new. Make time to get out and do something fun with your posse.

Leo is a creature of familiarity that prowls and leads others through his known kingdom. Aquarius finds that approach languid and unbearably lame. Aquarius is a rebel, always pushing the envelope, who loves to throw herself into new situations, and try new things. Socially, this generally leads to stereotypical activities such as skydiving, getting a tattoo, trying a natural, recreational drug, and all other things taboo. Romantically, she strikes us with a newfound penchant for latex garments and silicone bedroom toys. Have fun and bring water-based lubricant. Aquarius rips the training wheels of our bicycles and shows us all the things we can do, that we convince ourselves everyday we cannot. If there's something you're dying to do, something you're keeping to yourself- let it out there!

On the spiritual side, Aquarius hesitates to entertain metaphysics and holistic medicine. She may never read this blog, because as a staunch believer in a tangible, objective world, she doesn't really do spirituality. She doesn't do yoga, massage, acupuncture, chiropractice, and reflexology. And as smart as she is, when it comes to her own health, she's reactive and not proactive. She loathes sentimentality, so she also tends to repress and stockpile her emotions until she's suffering from anxiety or depression. Throw her some defiance this week, listen to your body and do something relaxing and beneficial for yourself. Use the pyramid hat she gave you, raise your vibrations and go learn about meditation, chakras, or crystals. If you're living with some emotional burdens, start talking and seek out dear friends or counselors who you can talk with openly in a safe and judgment-free atmosphere. Remember you're a Star.

Happy Full Moon.
